Installation of solid loft insulation boards in a 1800’s house

solid insulation boardsI would like to thank the BeGreen energy advice project for all their help during our renovation works. Our home dates from the 1790’s with a solid wall construction, timber beams and lathe and plaster walls.

A warmer home thanks to the Government’s Energy Assistance Scheme

0086424The family came into the shop to see if we could help them with a grant for a new gas boiler. They lived in a semi detached cottage built in the mid 1930’s in West Barns. I followed this up by having cavity wall insulation and found this most successful particularly in the room with three outside walls.

As a disabled person, I have to think very carefully about my money and Sheila at Be Green took time to listen to my questions and answer them in a way that was easy to understand. She took time to put me at ease and give me all the information I was looking for regarding the best, most efficient way to save money to keep warm.

For some time, I had been spending a great deal on my old boiler, which must have been at least 20 years old. It had a built-in fan, which was obviously electric and was using electricity all the time.
