BeGreen offer free impartial energy advice to householders in the Dunbar and East Linton ward, either in the shop or as an energy audit in your home. To find out if you live in ward 7 - Dunbar and East Linton, put in your post code here or check on a lower resolution map . Our auditor will visit your home at a time that suits you. The visit takes around 45 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the property, number of issues that arise or enthusiasm of the householder. The audits cover; the construction of your home, heating and hot water, lighting and appliances. In order to establish how your energy consumption compares to others in the district and to calculate your carbon footprint, we ask you to find out (looking at your last bill or by ringing your fuel supplier) what your energy consumption has been over the past twelve months.
We will also assess whether your home has potential for installing micro-renewables – such as solar hot-water panels, photovoltaics, a heat-pump or wood-pellet stove and whether you are eligible for any Government or BeGreen grant.
The auditor can leave an energy monitor so you can check your electricity consumption. A report is either sent electronically or by post. The report gives information on your household carbon footprint, gives main recommendations and other options for saving energy, money and CO2 emissions. Some recommendations you may want to take up straight away whilst others might be considered for the future. It also gives you a host of energy saving tips on how you use your home, which can make a real difference to your bills.
