The Energy Saving Scotland Home Renewables Grant Scheme is now closed. However the BeGreen Renewables Grant provides funding of 20% of installation costs up to £1,200.
The electricity feed-in-tariff (FIT) applies to Solar Photovoltaics and wind turbines and pays the householder 41.3p for every kWh generated up to installations up to 4kW. Electricity sold to the grid earns an extra 3p/kWh, whereas electricity used represents a further saving of around 12p/kWh in electricity not bought from the grid. FiTs have replaced grants for Solar PV.
So what is the payback time? Check the BeGreen leaflets:
The introduction of Renewable Heat Incentive next year will make installation of Solar thermal and Heat pumps more attractive. For more info
